Seven letters, one minute. Build as many real words as you can.
What is Word Rush?
Zip deals seven letters. Tap or type them to build real words of three letters or more, then submit. Longer words score more, good words in a row multiply your points, and a word that uses all seven letters earns a bonus. You have 60 seconds.
Word Rush is a free quick word game. Zip deals seven letters and you have sixty seconds to build as many real English words as you can, from three letters up to all seven. Tap the tiles or type on your keyboard, submit, and watch your list of found words grow.
Every letter set is dealt from a real seven-letter word, so there is always at least one word that uses every tile, plus plenty of shorter ones. Long words score far more than short ones, and a streak of good words multiplies your points.

How to play
- Build
- Tap the letter tiles or type them to spell a word of 3 to 7 letters. Each tile once per word.
- Submit
- Press Enter or tap Submit. Backspace removes a letter, Esc clears, Shuffle (or Space) mixes the tiles.
- Score
- 3 letters score 1, 4 score 2, 5 score 4, 6 score 7, 7 score 12. A word using all seven letters adds +10.
- Streak
- Three good words in a row: ×2. Six: ×3. A word that isn't in the list resets the streak; repeats don't count.
Scoring
Words of 3 letters score 1 point, 4 letters 2, 5 letters 4, 6 letters 7 and 7 letters 12, multiplied by your streak: ×2 after 3 good words in a row, ×3 after 6. A word that uses all seven letters adds a 10-point bonus.
The round lasts 60 seconds. A word that isn't in the list resets your streak; repeats and words under three letters just don't count. Your best score is kept in this browser.
What it trains
- Vocabulary
- Pulling real words, plurals and verb forms out of the same seven letters.
- Quick recall
- Finding the right word fast while the clock runs down.
- Pattern spotting
- Seeing endings like -ED, -ER and -ING that turn one word into several.
Strategy and tips
- Start short
- Grab two or three quick three-letter words to build a streak, then go long.
- Look for endings
- Letters like S, ED, ER and ING turn one word into several: PAINT, PAINTS, PAINTER.
- Shuffle when stuck
- A new order shows new pairs of letters. Shuffle is free and never costs time.
- Hunt the seven
- The full word is worth 12 points plus a 10-point bonus, more at ×3.
- Don't guess wildly
- A word that isn't in the list resets your streak. A repeat just doesn't count.
Why play Word Rush?
Finding words against the clock trains quick recall: pulling the right word from memory fast, the same skill you use when writing, speaking or answering on the spot. Short daily rounds keep vocabulary active.
Frequently asked questions
Is Word Rush free?
Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.
Where do the words come from?
From the open-source word-list package by Sindre Sorhus (MIT licence), trimmed to words of 3 to 7 letters with offensive words removed. Its licence ships with the game.
Why was my word rejected?
It needs at least three letters, only the tiles on screen (each once), and it must be in the word list. Names and abbreviations aren't.
Do plurals and verb forms count?
Yes, when they are in the list: PAINT, PAINTS and PAINTED are three different words.
