Thread Builder: a free game about writing threads

One big idea, five posts. Put the hook first, cut the filler and keep readers to the end.

What is Thread Builder?

You have one big idea and a pile of draft posts. Put the hook first, keep one idea per post, cut the filler, land the payoff and finish with the call to action. The read-through meter shows where readers drop off.

Thread Builder is a free writing game. You get a pile of draft posts for one idea and must turn them into a thread people actually finish.

Move the posts into order, cut the filler, and watch the read-through meter: it shows how many readers are still with you at each post.

How to play

Order
Move posts up and down: hook first, payoff before the call to action, call to action last.
Cut
Remove the filler posts. Every post that stays must earn its place.
Three levels
Beginner, Intermediate or Expert, picked before you play: the content and the clock change, and each level keeps its own best score.

Scoring

Each thread scores its final read-through: the share of readers still there at the last post (up to 100), plus 20 per filler post cut.

Win with an average read-through of 70% or more.

What it trains

Writing threads
Hook, one idea per post, payoff, call to action.
Editing
Cutting what doesn't earn its place.

Strategy and tips

Hook first
The first post decides whether anyone reads the second.
One idea per post
Two ideas in one post is where readers drop.
Ask at the end
The call to action works after the payoff, not before it.

Why play Thread Builder?

Threads, newsletters and carousels share the same rule: earn the next line. Practising the order makes any long post easier to read.
