What is Spell It Right?
Necessary or neccessary? Four spellings, one is right. Tap it before the minute runs out and pick up a memory trick for each word. Every word is spelt the same in US and UK English.
Spell It Right is a free 60-second spelling game built on the words people look up most: necessary, definitely, separate, receive, accommodate, rhythm. Four spellings appear, only one is right: tap it before the clock runs out.
Each answer comes with a memory trick, like "there's a rat in separate" or "one collar, two sleeves" for necessary. Every word is spelt the same in US and UK English, and the wrong options are common misspellings, never real alternatives.

What it trains
- Spelling
- The tricky words people look up most, spelt the same in US and UK English.
- Memory tricks
- Little hooks like "a rat in separate" that make spellings stick.
- Attention to detail
- Telling apart four spellings that differ by a single letter.
Strategy and tips
- Say it slowly
- Feb-RU-ary, li-BRAR-y: saying every syllable puts back the missing letters.
- Find the word inside
- Definitely hides "finite"; business is "busy" plus "ness".
- Count the doubles
- Many tricky words are about double letters: accommodate has two C's and two M's.
- Use the trick
- Read the memory trick after each answer and say it once in your head.
- Don't rush the lookalikes
- Three wrong options look close on purpose. A wrong answer costs 2 seconds.
Why play Spell It Right?
Spell-checkers miss words that look right in context, and a misspelt word in an email or CV stands out. A minute of quick choices, with a trick for each word, makes the right spelling feel familiar.
