Reel Editor Rush: free short-video editing game
Cut, caption and add the beat before the trend dies.
What is Reel Editor Rush?
Six raw clips laid out on a simple timeline, from a pancake flip to a sunrise hike. For each one, cut the dead bits (shaky shots, "um…", repeats, long pauses), place each caption on the moment it describes, then drop the beat on the big moment, all before the trend meter runs out. Tap to pick, tap to place, or use the number keys.
Reel Editor Rush is a free game about editing short videos. Each reel is a raw clip laid out on a simple timeline: a pancake flip, a kickflip, a room makeover, a flat tyre fix. You make the three basic edits in order: cut the dead bits, place each on-screen caption on the moment it describes, then drop the beat on the big moment.
A trend meter drains for the whole reel, because trends don't wait. Each step is checked and explained before the next, and the clips get longer, with more dead bits and more captions, as you go. Unlike games about the first seconds of a video, here you edit the whole clip from start to finish.

How to play
- Cut
- Tap every dead bit on the timeline to mark it, then Done cutting.
- Caption
- Pick a caption, then tap the clip it describes. Many people watch with the sound off.
- Beat
- Tap the big moment (the flip, the reveal) to drop the beat on it.
- Score
- 100 per clean cut, 50 per synced caption, 100 per beat plus 2 per second left on the trend meter. A mistake or a dead trend costs one of 3 lives.
Scoring
Each reel scores 100 for a clean cut, 50 per caption on the right moment, and 100 for a beat on the big moment, plus 2 points per second left on the trend meter.
A messy cut, a caption out of sync, an off-beat drop or a trend that dies costs one of your 3 lives. A run is 6 reels.
What it trains
- Trimming
- Spotting the shaky shots, "um…", repeats and pauses that make viewers swipe.
- Captions in sync
- Putting on-screen text on the moment it describes, for people watching muted.
- Editing to the beat
- Landing the music on the payoff so sound and picture hit together.
Strategy and tips
- Cut anything that stalls
- Shaky shots of the floor, "um, is it recording?", the same shot twice and long pauses all give viewers a reason to swipe.
- Keep the steps
- Only cut dead bits. Removing a real step leaves a hole in the story.
- Caption the moment
- A caption helps when it's on screen while that moment plays, for everyone watching on mute.
- Beat on the payoff
- Drop the beat on the flip, the reveal or the transition, so sound and picture hit together.
- Good enough, on time
- The meter rewards speed: a clean edit posted while the trend is alive beats a perfect one next week.
Why play Reel Editor Rush?
Short videos live or die on pacing. Trimming dead air, syncing captions to what's on screen and landing the music on the key moment are the editing basics behind most clips that people watch to the end, and they work in any editing app.
