Peak Season: free seasonal trends game, snap searches to seasons

Sunscreen in July, flu in January. Snap each search to the season it peaks.

What is Peak Season?

Some searches come back every year at the same time: sunscreen, Halloween costumes, flu symptoms, gym memberships. Snap each one to the season it usually peaks in (northern hemisphere) for 60 seconds. Level 3 brings the traps, like tulip bulbs and flu shots.

Peak Season is a free quick game about the searches that come back every year. A topic appears, like “sunscreen”, “Halloween costume” or “gym membership”, and you snap it to the season when searches for it usually peak: winter, spring, summer or autumn. Seasons follow the northern hemisphere, so winter means December to February.

You have 60 seconds. The first level is the obvious ones, the second needs a little more thought, and the third brings the traps: tulip bulbs go in the ground in autumn, flu shots peak before flu season, and back-to-school shopping happens in summer. Every answer explains why the peak falls when it does.

How to play

Read the search
A classic seasonal search appears, like “sunscreen” or “Halloween costume”.
Pick the season
Tap Winter, Spring, Summer or Autumn, or press 1 to 4. Seasons are for the northern hemisphere (winter = Dec–Feb).
Time
You have 60 seconds. Level 2 starts after 5 right answers, level 3 after 12. A wrong answer costs 2 seconds and resets your streak.
Score
Each right answer scores 10, 15 or 20 points by level plus up to 5 for speed, multiplied by your streak: ×2 after 4 right in a row, ×3 after 8, ×4 after 12.

Scoring

Each right answer scores 10 points at level 1, 15 at level 2 and 20 at level 3, plus up to 5 for answering within 4 seconds, multiplied by your streak: ×2 after 4 right in a row, ×3 after 8, ×4 after 12. Level 2 starts after 5 right answers, level 3 after 12.

The run lasts 60 seconds. A wrong answer costs 2 seconds, resets your streak and shows the right season with the reason. Your best score is kept in this browser.

What it trains

Seasonal patterns
Knowing which searches come back every year, and when.
Cause and effect
Linking a peak to what drives it: weather, a holiday, a deadline.
Thinking ahead
Spotting the searches that peak before the event, like flu shots and school supplies.

Strategy and tips

Think of the reason
Weather, holidays and the school year drive most seasonal searches.
Before, not during
Many searches peak just before the event: flu shots in autumn, school supplies in late summer.
Dates are fixed
Halloween is 31 October and Valentine's Day 14 February, so their peaks never move.
Keep thumbs on 1 to 4
The seasons always sit in the same order: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn.
Protect the streak
A ×4 multiplier is worth more than a quick guess.

Why play Peak Season?

Seasonal patterns are some of the most reliable trends there are: shops, newsrooms and planners use them every year. Spotting what drives a peak (weather, a holiday, a deadline) is a quick way to understand why interest rises and falls.

Frequently asked questions

Is Peak Season free?

Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.

Why northern-hemisphere seasons?

Most of the world's people live there, so it's the usual frame. In the southern hemisphere the weather-driven peaks flip: sunscreen peaks around December and January.

Are these real search numbers?

No numbers are shown. The game uses well-known yearly patterns, like sunscreen in summer and costumes before Halloween.

Can I use the keyboard?

Yes: 1 for Winter, 2 for Spring, 3 for Summer and 4 for Autumn.
