Office of Mandatory Meetings: a free calendar scheduling puzzle game
Schedule a meeting to plan the meeting that decides if you need a meeting.
What is Office of Mandatory Meetings?
Every week needs a pre-meeting, a planning meeting and the meeting that decides whether a meeting was needed. Book each one where everyone it needs is free, after the one before it, as early as you can, and send the info-only ones as an email.
Office of Mandatory Meetings is a free satire game about the meeting to plan the meeting that decides whether you need a meeting. Each week brings three of them, in order, and a calendar full of busy colleagues.
Book each meeting in a slot where everyone it lists is free and after the one before it. The earliest slot scores best, and if the agenda only shares information, you can send an email instead.

How to play
- Book
- Pick a slot where everyone listed is free, after the previous meeting: +60, +40 more for the earliest.
- Info-only agendas can be an email: +100. Clashes end the run if they pile up.
- Three levels
- Beginner, Intermediate or Expert, picked before you play: the content and the clock change, and each level keeps its own best score.
- Satire
- Absurd and warm: every country, office, planet and form is made up, and every run ends on a real admin skill.
Scoring
+60 per meeting booked in a working slot, +40 more for the earliest slot, and +100 for sending an info-only agenda as an email.
Win by handling 70% of the meetings well; too many calendar clashes end the run.
What it trains
- Scheduling
- Finding the earliest slot that works for everyone.
- Meeting hygiene
- Telling a decision meeting from an email.
Strategy and tips
- Read the agenda first
- “Share the slide deck” is an email. “Agree who owns the budget” needs the people in a room.
- Go early
- Booking a late slot can leave no room for the next meeting in the chain.
- Read the letters
- Letters in a slot are the first letters of whoever is busy then.
Why play Office of Mandatory Meetings?
Real calendars work the same way: check whether a meeting is needed, invite only who must decide, and pick the earliest slot everyone's calendar shows free.
