The Cloud Kingdom: a free uptime management game

Rule a nation living in a data center. Citizens are servers. War is a power cut.

What is The Cloud Kingdom?

Your citizens are servers, and they run hot. Point your few fans at whoever is about to crash, and when the Toaster Duchy declares war on a rack, reroute the power before the countdown ends. Keep the kingdom online.

The Cloud Kingdom is a free satire game where your citizens are servers in a data center. They heat up as they work, and one that reaches 100° crashes for a while.

You have a few fans that come back slowly. Point them at whoever is about to crash, and when the neighbouring Toaster Duchy declares war on a rack, reroute power before the countdown ends.

How to play

Cool
Tap a citizen (or press its number) to cool it by 40°. Fans come back slowly.
War
Reroute power before a threatened rack goes dark.
Three levels
Beginner, Intermediate or Expert, picked before you play: the content and the clock change, and each level keeps its own best score.
Satire
Absurd and warm: every country, office, planet and form is made up, and every run ends on a real admin skill.

Scoring

One point per citizen online every tick, +25 per war averted by rerouting.

Win by keeping uptime above 80%, 85% or 88% depending on the level.

What it trains

Prioritising
Fixing what is about to break first.
Keeping a buffer
Holding a fan back for the next emergency.

Strategy and tips

Cool the hottest
A fan on a server at 90° saves a crash; one on a server at 40° is wasted.
Keep a fan spare
A war warning can come at any time. Rerouting is free, but crashes pile up fast.
Use the numbers
On a keyboard, keys 1 to 9 cool a server and R reroutes.

Why play The Cloud Kingdom?

Prioritising what's about to break, and keeping a buffer before you need it, works for laptops, budgets and busy weeks alike.
