How To Dash: free how-to game, pick the right first step
The world asks 'how to…' all day. Pick the right first step.
What is How To Dash?
Boil an egg, tie a tie, unclog a sink, reset a password, change a flat tyre. Zip shows an everyday job and four of its steps: pick the one that comes first, for 60 seconds. Level 3 brings the jobs where safety comes first.
How To Dash is a free quick game built on the questions the world asks all day: how to boil an egg, tie a tie, reset a password, unclog a sink. Each round shows an everyday job and four of its steps. Pick the one that comes first.
The wrong options are later steps of the same job, or a common mistake, so there's always one clear first step. Level 1 is kitchen and computer basics, level 2 the steps people skip (check the care label, measure the rice), and level 3 the jobs where safety comes first: switch off before changing a bulb, park somewhere safe before changing a tyre.

How to play
- Read the job
- An everyday how-to appears, like “how to make a cup of tea”.
- Pick the first step
- Four steps from the same job: tap the one that comes first, or press 1 to 4. The others are later steps or a common mistake.
- Time
- You have 60 seconds. Level 2 starts after 5 right answers, level 3 after 12. A wrong answer costs 2 seconds and resets your streak.
- Score
- Each right answer scores 10, 15 or 20 points by level plus up to 5 for speed, multiplied by your streak: ×2 after 4 right in a row, ×3 after 8, ×4 after 12.
Scoring
Each right answer scores 10 points at level 1, 15 at level 2 and 20 at level 3, plus up to 5 for answering within 4 seconds, multiplied by your streak: ×2 after 4 right in a row, ×3 after 8, ×4 after 12. Level 2 starts after 5 right answers, level 3 (safety-first jobs) after 12.
The run lasts 60 seconds. A wrong answer costs 2 seconds, resets your streak and shows the right first step. Your best score is kept in this browser.
What it trains
- Practical first steps
- Knowing where everyday jobs start, from tea to a flat tyre.
- Safety habits
- Switching off, cooling down and parking safely before you begin.
- Planning
- Preparing and checking before doing, the step most people skip.
Strategy and tips
- Safety first
- If a job involves heat, power or traffic, the first step usually makes it safe.
- Prepare before you act
- Measuring, sorting and checking labels come before the real work.
- Ask what everything waits for
- Tea waits for hot water; pancakes wait for batter.
- Spot the mistake
- Thawing meat on the counter or rubbing a stain are traps, not steps.
- Read all four
- The first option you see is often a later step.
Why play How To Dash?
Most how-to questions have a simple answer once you know where to start. Practising the first step of everyday jobs builds the habit of preparing and making things safe before diving in, which is half of doing anything well.
