Collab Match: free game to learn influencer partnerships

Pair brands with creators whose audience actually fits.

What is Collab Match?

Eight made-up brands send a brief: the product, who buys it, what it stands for. Pick the creator to partner with by reading their audience, values, region and comments, not just their follower count.

Collab Match is a free social media game about influencer partnerships. Eight made-up brands send a brief, from trail running shoes to a budgeting app, each saying who buys the product and what the brand stands for. Your job is to sign the creator whose audience matches those buyers.

Each creator card shows the follower count, the engagement rate, who the audience is, a sample comment and a note on their content. The biggest account is often the wrong one: a teen comedy channel won't sell trail shoes, and a million giveaway followers won't book a hostel. After each brief, every creator gets a one-line reason.

How to play

Read the brief
Each brand says who buys the product and what it stands for.
Check the creators
Audience age and interests, region, values, ad habits and the comments. Big accounts are often the trap.
Sign one
Tap a creator, then sign the deal before the clock runs out. From brief 4, a near miss joins the line-up.
Score
Best fit: 100, up to +50 for speed, +25 from 3 in a row. Near miss: +40. A misfit or the clock costs one of 3 lives.

Scoring

Each best fit scores 100, plus up to 50 for speed and 25 more from 3 best fits in a row. A near miss scores 40 without costing a life.

Picking a misfit or running out of time costs one of 3 lives. From brief 4 a fourth creator, a near miss, joins the line-up.

What it trains

Audience fit
Matching a product's buyers with a creator's real audience: age, interests and region.
Reading engagement
Telling real conversations from empty, emoji-only or bought engagement.
Brand safety
Spotting values clashes, ad overload and risky content before signing.

Strategy and tips

Start from the buyers
Read who pays for the product, then look for that exact audience. Parents buy kids' apps, not the kids.
Size is not fit
A small creator whose followers ask product questions beats a huge account with the wrong audience.
Read the comments
Real questions ("which nib size?") show a listening audience. Emoji-only or "follow back" comments suggest empty engagement.
Check values and region
An eco brand next to weekly mega-hauls looks fake, and an audience abroad can't buy a product that doesn't ship there.
Watch for ad overload
Creators who post several ads a day have followers who tune them out.

Why play Collab Match?

Brands spend a lot on creator partnerships, and the most common mistake is paying for reach instead of fit. Learning to read an audience, its age, interests, values and conversations, is useful whether you run a brand, work in marketing or are a creator choosing which deals to accept.

Frequently asked questions

Is Collab Match free?

Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.

Are the brands and creators real?

No. Every brand, creator, follower count and engagement rate is made up for the game.

What is an engagement rate?

Roughly, the likes and comments a post gets divided by the follower count. Higher usually means a more active audience, but it isn't everything.

Why is the biggest creator often wrong?

Because a partnership sells to the people watching. A big audience that doesn't match the buyers brings views but few customers.
