Logic Gates: free logic puzzle game with AND, OR, XOR and NOT
AND, OR, NOT, XOR: set the switches so the bulb lights.
What is Logic Gates?
Ten circuits of AND, OR, XOR and NOT gates. Flip the switches and press Power on: light the bulb in two tries or fewer. Every circuit is checked to have an answer, and first-try solves climb to bigger circuits.
Logic Gates is a free logic puzzle game. Each circuit runs from a row of switches through AND, OR, XOR and NOT gates to a bulb. Flip the switches, press Power on, and see if the bulb lights. The rule is also written out in words, like “NOT A AND (B OR C)”.
You get two tries per circuit. A miss shows a 1 or a 0 on every gate, so you can trace where the power stopped. Solve on the first try and the next circuit grows: more switches, more gates, XOR and NOT. Every circuit is generated so it has at least one answer and starts dark.

How to play
- Flip switches
- Each switch sends power (1) or not (0) into the circuit.
- Know the gates
- AND needs both inputs on, OR needs one, XOR needs exactly one, NOT flips its input.
- Power on
- Two tries per circuit. A miss shows a 1 or 0 on every gate so you can trace the problem.
- Climb
- Light it on the first try to get more switches and gates next time.
Scoring
A circuit lit on the first try scores 30 + 20 × the level; on the second try, half. Out of tries scores 0.
Ten circuits per run. A first-try solve climbs a level (more switches, XOR and NOT gates); a fail drops one.
What it trains
- Logical reasoning
- Following AND, OR, XOR and NOT conditions step by step.
- Working backwards
- Starting from the goal and asking what each gate needs.
- Debugging
- Reading the 1s and 0s after a miss to find where the power stopped.
Strategy and tips
- Work backwards
- Start at the bulb: what does the last gate need from its two wires?
- AND needs everything
- Every input of an AND must be on. One off wire is enough to stop it.
- XOR is picky
- XOR lights with exactly one input on, never both.
- NOT flips
- Under a NOT, you want the wire off to get power out.
- Use the miss
- The 1s and 0s after a miss show exactly which gate blocked the power.
Why play Logic Gates?
Logic gates are the building blocks of every computer chip, and the same if-this-and-that reasoning runs through spreadsheets, code and everyday decisions. Tracing a small circuit is a quick way to practise it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Logic Gates free?
Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.
Does every circuit have an answer?
Yes. Each one is checked by trying every switch setting: it can be lit, it's dark with all switches off, and every switch matters.
How is the score counted?
A circuit lit on the first try scores 30 + 20 × the level; on the second try, half that. Ten circuits per run.
Does it raise my IQ?
No claim like that. It's a logic training game with a progress score and a level.
