Feed Fit: free polyomino packing puzzle game online

Fill Thumby's phone screen with every piece in the tray: no gaps, no overlaps. Rotate, place, three boards a run.

What is Feed Fit?

A packing puzzle with Thumby. Fit every piece from the tray onto the phone screen so the grid is filled exactly, with no gaps and no overlaps. Pieces can turn but never flip. Pick Easy (4×4), Medium (5×5) or Hard (6×6) and fill three boards.

Feed Fit is a free packing puzzle with Thumby. The phone screen is an empty grid and the tray holds a handful of pieces made of 2 to 5 squares. Your job is to fit them all in so every cell is covered exactly once: no gaps, no overlaps, no leftovers. Pieces can be turned a quarter turn at a time, but never flipped over.

Every board is made in your browser by cutting the full screen into random pieces, so there is always at least one way to fill it. The tray then shuffles them and turns each one at random. Choose Easy (4×4, four or five pieces), Medium (5×5) or Hard (6×6), and fill three boards as fast as you can.

How to play

Fill
Cover every cell of the screen with the tray's pieces. Each piece is used once, with no gaps and no overlaps.
Place
Tap a piece in the tray, then a cell: a preview shows where it lands. Tap a placed piece to take it back.
Rotate
Press Rotate (or R) to turn the piece in hand a quarter turn. Pieces never flip. On a keyboard: arrows move, Enter places, Backspace takes back.
Score
Each board scores Easy 500, Medium 800 or Hard 1,200 points, minus 2 a second, never under 100. A run is 3 boards.

Scoring

A run is 3 boards. Each filled board scores Easy 500, Medium 800 or Hard 1,200 points, minus 2 for every second it took, never under 100. Your run score is the total of the three.

Taking pieces back and rotating cost nothing but time. Your best score is kept in this browser.

What it trains

Spatial reasoning
Turning shapes in your head and seeing which outline a gap needs.
Planning ahead
Placing big pieces early so the last gaps still fit what's left in the tray.
Visual speed
Spotting the fit quickly, with the clock taking 2 points a second.

Strategy and tips

Corners first
A corner cell can only be covered in a few ways. Start there and the rest of the board narrows down fast.
Big pieces early
Place the 5-cell pieces while there is still room for them; the dominoes fill the last gaps.
Count the holes
If an empty pocket is one cell, or a size no remaining piece can make, something has to move.
Turn before you drop
Watch the preview: it turns red when the piece hangs off the edge or overlaps. Press R until the shape matches the gap.
Take back freely
Tapping a placed piece puts it back in hand. There is no penalty except the clock.

Why play Feed Fit?

Packing puzzles train spatial reasoning: turning shapes in your head, seeing which outline a gap needs, and planning a few moves ahead. Small boards keep each puzzle short, and the clock adds a gentle push to see the fit quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Is Feed Fit free?

Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.

Can I flip pieces?

No. Pieces only rotate, a quarter turn at a time. Every board can be filled with rotations alone.

Is every board solvable?

Yes. Each board is cut from a full screen, so a solution always exists, and often more than one.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes: Tab to a piece and press Enter to pick it, then arrows move on the screen, R rotates, Enter places and Backspace takes a piece back.
