Spring Clean: free decluttering game for your digital life
Declutter your digital life: keep, archive or delete.
What is Spring Clean?
Buffer opens the windows on a cluttered digital life: an overflowing inbox, a crowded home screen, buzzing notifications and forgotten accounts. In each room, decide what to keep close, what to archive and what to delete. Each room says what the three words mean there, and every answer explains the best call.
Spring Clean is a free 2-minute decluttering game with Buffer. Your digital life has four messy rooms: an inbox full of codes, receipts and newsletters, a home screen crowded with apps, notifications that never stop, and old accounts you forgot about. For each item, choose Keep, Archive or Delete.
The three words mean something concrete in each room. Archiving an email takes it out of the inbox but keeps it searchable; archiving an app moves it into a folder; archiving a notification sends it to a quiet daily summary; archiving an account means downloading what matters, then closing it. Every answer explains the best call in one line.

What it trains
- Digital organisation
- Decide what stays in view, what gets stored and what goes.
- Protecting your attention
- Let people and time-sensitive alerts through, silence the rest.
- Account hygiene
- Close accounts you don't use, after saving what matters.
Strategy and tips
- Ask "does it need me?"
- If something still needs your action soon, keep it close. If not, it can move out of sight.
- Archive records, delete noise
- Receipts, warranties and pay summaries can matter later. Expired codes and unread newsletters can't.
- One screen for daily tools
- Apps you open every week earn the home screen. Rare but useful ones go in a folder.
- People first
- Let messages from people and time-sensitive alerts buzz. Sales pitches and nudges to come back can stop.
- Save, then close
- Before closing an old account, download the photos or writing you'd miss. Remember: deleting an app doesn't cancel a subscription.
Why play Spring Clean?
Digital clutter costs attention: every unread newsletter, buzzing app and forgotten account pulls at you or leaves a door open. Digital organisation is the habit of deciding what deserves your daily view, what to store safely and what to let go. Spring Clean practises those calls quickly, with a reason for each one.
