Path Trace: free spatial memory game, redraw the path

A dot zigzags across the grid, then vanishes. Redraw its exact path, square by square, as the trail gets longer.

What is Path Trace?

A dot zigzags across the grid, then vanishes. Tap its path square by square, in the right order, starting where it started. Each level adds a step, and the grid grows from 5×5 to 6×6.

Path Trace is a free spatial memory game. A dot zigzags across a grid, square by square, then vanishes. Tap the same squares in the same order, starting where the dot started. Each level adds one step to the path and makes the dot a little faster.

Unlike Flash Grid, where only positions matter, Path Trace asks for the order too: you remember a route, not a pattern. It trains spatial working memory and sequencing, the skills behind remembering directions or a sequence of moves.

How to play

Watch
A dot moves from square to square, leaving a faint trail, then vanishes.
Trace
Tap the squares in the same order, starting where the dot started.
Miss
A wrong square costs a life and shows the whole path; you get a new one at the same level.
Climb
Each cleared level adds a step and speeds up the dot. Your score is the number of levels cleared.

Strategy and tips

Name the turns
Say the moves to yourself: right, down, right, up. Words are easier to hold than dots.
Watch the start
The first square is the anchor: miss it and the rest falls apart.
Shapes help
Paths often form letters or stairs. Spot the shape, then trace it.
Trace with your eyes
Follow the dot with your eyes, not just your attention; your gaze remembers the route.
Misses keep the level
A wrong square gives a new path at the same length.

Why play Path Trace?

Remembering where things are and in what order is how we follow directions, learn dance steps or recall a sequence of chess moves. Path Trace stretches that spatial sequence memory one step at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Is Path Trace free?

Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.

How is it different from Flash Grid?

Flash Grid asks which tiles lit up, in any order. Path Trace asks for the exact route, in order.

Do diagonal moves count?

No. The dot always moves to a square next to it: up, down, left or right.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes: tap the squares on a touch screen.
