Quick tips

• Distrust the shiny button. The biggest, brightest button is usually the one the site wants, not the one you want.
• Look for the small text. “Reject all”, “Maybe later” and “Close ad” are often small links.
• Fake crosses exist. A ✕ drawn inside an ad is part of the ad. Real close buttons sit on the pop-up's corner or as text.
• Guilt is a tactic. “No thanks, I prefer paying full price” is still the right answer.
• Websites can't scan you. Virus alerts and update requests from a web page are always fake.
