Quick tips

• Safety first. Check for danger before you approach. A second casualty helps nobody.
• Call early. Unresponsive and not breathing normally? Call 112 or 911 at once and ask for a defibrillator.
• Press, don't peek. On a bleeding wound, keep firm pressure and add layers instead of lifting the cloth.
• Water, not ice. Cool a burn under running water for 20 minutes; no ice, no butter.
• FAST. Face, Arm, Speech, Time: stroke signs mean calling emergency services right away.
