Trendy or Not?: free quiz game on TikTok and Google trends
Real trend from the FYP and Google, or not? Three levels, 10 rounds of 4 claims, combos up to ×4.
What is Trendy or Not?
Skibidi Toilet, girl dinner, Labubu, brain rot, Mocha Mousse: did it really blow up, or is it made up? Pick Beginner, Intermediate or Expert, then sort 40 claims about TikTok trends, Google searches and the yearly word and colour picks before the clock runs out.
Trendy or Not? is a free internet-culture quiz. Each claim is about something that blew up on the FYP, in Google searches or in the yearly word and colour picks: Skibidi Toilet, the Roman Empire question, girl dinner, Labubu, brain rot, Mocha Mousse. Did it really trend, or is it made up?
Beginner covers the mega-memes everyone saw. Intermediate brings aesthetics, slang and colours. Expert asks for the exact year, creator or source, and its traps change a single detail: right word, wrong dictionary.

How to play
- Choose a level

- Trendy or not?
- Swipe through 10 levels of 4 claims: Trendy → if it really happened, ← Not if it's made up or one detail is wrong.
- Build the combo
- 3 right in a row is ×2, 6 is ×3, 10 is ×4. Faster answers score more.
- Learn what happened
- Every answer says what really trended. 3 mistakes or timeouts end the run.
Scoring
Each right answer scores 100 points times your combo (×2 after 3 in a row, ×3 after 6, ×4 after 10), plus up to 50 for answering fast. Intermediate counts ×1.5 and Expert ×2.
A wrong answer or a timeout costs one of 3 lives and resets the combo. The clock gets shorter level after level.
What it trains
- Internet culture
- What really trended on the FYP and in Google searches, and when.
- Fact-checking
- Spotting the one wrong detail: the year, the source, the creator.
- Quick judgement
- Deciding fast without losing your streak.
Strategy and tips
- Check the year
- Many "not" claims are a real trend with the wrong year. Words and colours of the year change every December.
- Check the source
- Oxford, Cambridge, Collins, Merriam-Webster and Dictionary.com each pick their own word.
- Spot the made-up name
- Invented trends sound plausible but never come with a creator, a song or a place you've heard of.
- Ride the combo
- Three right in a row doubles your points. Don't rush a claim you're unsure about.
- Read the answer
- Each answer tells the real story, which makes the next run easier.
Why play Trendy or Not?
Trends move fast and half of what goes around is misremembered. Checking the year, the source and the details is the same reflex that helps you spot a fake story online.
