Subscription Purge: free money game to cut unused subscriptions
Your bank app is full of tiny monthly charges. Swipe to keep or cancel before they eat your savings.
What is Subscription Purge?
Fifteen monthly charges, sixty seconds. Each card shows the price and when you last used it. Keep what you use, cancel what you don't, and see how much a year of small charges really costs.
Subscription Purge is a free personal finance game. Your bank app lists fifteen monthly charges: streaming, music, a gym, apps, a free trial that quietly turned paid, a second cloud storage plan. Each card shows the price and when you last used it. You have sixty seconds to keep or cancel every one.
Swipe, tap or use the arrow keys. Cancel something you use and your happiness drops; keep something you haven't opened in months and it keeps charging you all year. Your score is the yearly money you saved times how happy you still are, so the best purge is a careful one.

How to play
- Read the card
- Each subscription shows its monthly price and when you last used it.
- Keep or cancel
- Swipe right or tap Keep, swipe left or tap Cancel. On a keyboard, → keeps and ← cancels.
- Mind both meters
- Cancelling something you use costs happiness. Keeping something you don't use keeps costing money.
- Score
- Yearly savings, minus the money still wasted, times your happiness. Cards left at 0 seconds stay subscribed.
Scoring
Every subscription you cancel adds 12 months of its price to your yearly savings; every unused one you keep (or don't reach before the 60 seconds are up) counts as money still wasted.
Cancelling something you used in the last 30 days costs happiness (25, or 40 for a gym). Your score is savings minus waste, in dollars, times your happiness: 100% counts in full, 0% scores nothing.
What it trains
- Spotting waste
- Reading a price and a last-used date and deciding in seconds.
- Yearly thinking
- Turning small monthly charges into what they cost in a year.
- Balance
- Cutting costs without cutting the things you actually enjoy.
Strategy and tips
- Check the last-used date
- If you haven't opened it in a month or more, you probably won't miss it.
- Think yearly
- $9.99 a month is $120 a year. Multiply before you decide.
- Watch free trials
- Trials turn paid on their own. Set a reminder the day you sign up.
- Spot duplicates
- Two streaming plans or two storage plans usually means one is wasted.
- Keep what you love
- Cutting everything isn't the goal. Pay for what you actually use.
Why play Subscription Purge?
Subscriptions are designed to be easy to start and easy to forget. A one-minute purge shows how a handful of small charges becomes hundreds a year, and builds the habit of checking your statement.
