Meeting Maze: free time management game to win back focus time

Your week is drowning in meetings. Decline, merge or turn them into a message, and win back your focus time.

What is Meeting Maze?

Three weeks, three calendars from the gang. Tap each meeting and choose: keep it, decline it, shorten it, merge it into a meeting with the same people and topic, or turn it into a written message. Every call is explained, and the free stretches of two hours or more light up as focus blocks.

Meeting Maze is a free calendar and time management game. Zip, Later and Buffer each hand you a week that filled up by itself: status rounds, a vendor demo, a client call, budget questions, a two-hour company meeting, an interview, coffee with a new teammate. Each meeting shows who's in it and why.

For every meeting, choose Keep, Decline, Shorten, Merge or Message. Merging folds a meeting into another one with the same people and topic; Message replaces it with a written update. Each call is explained on the spot, and the calendar lights up the focus blocks you win back: free stretches of two hours or more. Reach the week's focus goal without dropping the meetings that truly have to happen.

How to play

Tap a meeting
Read who's in it and why. The calendar shows the whole week, with your focus blocks in green.
Choose
Keep, Decline, Shorten (half the time), Merge (into a meeting with the same people and topic) or Message. Keys 1 to 5 work too.
Protect what matters
Some meetings have to happen live, like a client decision or an interview. Dropping one costs a life: 3 lives.
Score
100 for the best call, 50 for a good one, +10 per focus hour at the end of each week and +100 for reaching the week's focus goal.

Scoring

Each meeting scores 100 for the best call (Keep, Decline, Shorten, Merge or Message) and 50 for a good one. At the end of each week you get 10 per hour of focus blocks, plus 100 for reaching the week's focus goal.

Declining, messaging or merging a meeting that has to happen live costs one of 3 lives. A perfect run scores 3,040.

What it trains

Questioning meetings
Asking whether it needs people live, and whether you need to be there.
Fixing the format
Shortening long default bookings, merging twin meetings and replacing updates with a message.
Protecting focus time
Keeping two-hour blocks free for deep work while keeping the meetings that matter.

Strategy and tips

Ask what it's for
Decisions and real back-and-forth need a meeting. Reading updates aloud doesn't.
Optional means optional
If someone else attends and shares notes, decline politely and read them later.
Spot the twins
Two meetings with the same people on the same topic? Merge them into one agenda.
Book what it needs
An hour that always ends after 25 minutes should be booked for 30.
Keep the human ones
Interviews, client decisions and welcoming a new teammate are worth the time.

Why play Meeting Maze?

Deep work needs long, unbroken stretches, and a calendar full of short meetings leaves none. Meeting Maze trains the questions that protect them: does this need people live, do I need to be there, could it be shorter, could it be a message? Practising them on made-up weeks makes them easier to ask on real ones.

Frequently asked questions

What is a focus block?

Yes. Every meeting and action is a button, keys 1 to 5 pick Keep, Decline, Shorten, Merge or Message, and each result is announced.
