Password Builder: free password game to build passphrases
Build passwords that a hacker can't crack and you can still remember.
What is Password Builder?
Build made-up passwords from tiles: random words, numbers, symbols, and a few traps like leaked passwords, keyboard patterns and personal facts. A crack-time meter shows how long an example attacker making 10 billion guesses a second needs on average. Hit each round's target while keeping enough memory stars, in 8 quick rounds.
Password Builder is a free password game about account security. Each round you build a made-up password from tiles: random words, numbers, symbols, and traps like famous leaked passwords, keyboard patterns, years and personal facts. You never type a real password.
A crack-time meter shows how long an example attacker making 10 billion guesses a second (a fast offline attack on a leaked, weakly stored password list) would need on average. Each random word counts as one pick from a 7,776-word list, and the popular tweaks, a capital, look-alike swaps or a ! at the end, add only about one bit each. Hit the round's target from 1 day to 1 million years while keeping the memory stars.

How to play
- Build
- Tap tiles to add them, tap them again to remove. Tweaks add a capital, look-alikes like @ for a, or a ! at the end.
- Beat the meter
- Reach the round's crack time, from 1 day to 1 million years, against an example attack of 10 billion guesses a second.
- Stay memorable
- A word is one easy chunk to remember; random characters cost one each. Keep the stars the round asks for.
- Score
- 100 per passed round, +25 per memory star and up to +50 for speed. A failed round costs one of 3 lives.
Scoring
Each passed round scores 100 points, plus 25 per memory star and up to 50 for building fast.
A round passes when the password beats the crack-time target (against an example attack of 10 billion guesses a second), keeps the stars asked for and follows any site rule. A miss or a timeout costs one of 3 lives.
What it trains
- Account security
- Why length from random words beats clever tweaks like P@ssw0rd!.
- Spotting weak patterns
- Leaked passwords, keyboard walks, years and personal facts are guessed first.
- Memorable passwords
- Strong passwords you can actually remember, as a few random words.
Strategy and tips
- Length wins
- Each random word multiplies the guesses by 7,776. A capital or a ! only doubles them.
- Skip the traps
- Leaked passwords, keyboard walks like qwerty and facts on your profile are the first things crackers try.
- Random means picked by chance
- Words you choose because they mean something are easier to guess. Let a dice roll or a generator pick them.
- Words beat symbol soup
- Random characters are strong but each one is a separate thing to remember. A few random words stick better.
- Meet site rules cheaply
- If a site needs a digit or a symbol, add one, but the strength still comes from length.
Why play Password Builder?
Weak and reused passwords are behind a large share of hacked accounts. Password Builder trains the habit behind strong ones: length from random words instead of clever tweaks, no personal facts, nothing from a leaked list, and a password you can actually remember. Pair it with a password manager and two-step login for the accounts that matter.
Frequently asked questions
Is Password Builder free?
Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.
Should I type my real password?
Never. The game only uses made-up tiles, and no game, quiz or form should ever ask for your real password.
How accurate is the crack-time meter?
It's an honest example, not a guarantee: it assumes 10 billion guesses a second and an attacker who knows how the password was built. Slower password storage on a real site can make cracking far slower; a password reused from a leak can be found instantly.
How is it different from Password Fortress?
Password Fortress is an adventure where you pick the best defence wave after wave. Password Builder is a quick build-and-rate loop: you assemble each password yourself and watch the meter move.
