Bunny Hop Path: free spring puzzle game to train path planning

Plan the bunny's hops to grab every carrot.

What is Bunny Hop Path?

A bunny in a spring meadow can only hop set distances, like 2 or 3 squares, straight up, down, left or right. It can hop over bushes but never land on one, and a carrot only counts when it lands on it. Plan the hops that grab every carrot in as few hops as possible. Six meadows, and the fewest hops is always worked out exactly.

Bunny Hop Path is a free spring planning puzzle. A bunny sits in a meadow full of carrots and bushes, but it can only hop set distances: maybe 1 or 2 squares, exactly 2, or 1 or 3, always in a straight line up, down, left or right. It may hop over a bush but never land on one, and it only picks up a carrot by landing on it.

Your job is to grab every carrot in as few hops as possible. Each meadow shows the best possible count, worked out exactly, so you know your target. Go three hops over it and the bunny gets too tired. After each meadow, a best route appears on the board so you can compare your plan with it.

How to play

Fixed hops
Each meadow sets the hop lengths. The bunny hops exactly that far in a straight line, never diagonally.
Bushes and carrots
Hop over bushes, never onto them. A carrot counts only when the bunny lands on it.
Fewest hops
The best possible count is shown. Three hops over it and the bunny is too tired: one of 3 lives. Two undos per meadow.
Score
+20 per carrot and up to +150 for a perfect plan, −40 per extra hop. A best route is shown after each meadow.

Scoring

+20 per carrot

Up to +150 for matching the fewest hops, −40 per extra hop

Three hops over the best and the bunny is too tired: one of 3 lives

What it trains

Path planning
Choose the order and the landing squares before you move.
Thinking ahead
With fixed hop lengths the obvious move is often wrong; look two or three hops ahead.
Comparing routes
See a best route after each meadow and learn where yours lost hops.

Strategy and tips

Close isn't always near
With hops of 2 or 3, a carrot right next to you can take two hops to reach.
Check the pattern
With hops of exactly 2, the bunny only ever lands on every other square. Work out which carrots fit that pattern.
Combine hops
3 forward and 1 back moves you 2 squares in two hops. Mixed hop lengths let you fine-tune your landing.
Order first
Decide the order of carrots before moving. Nearest carrot first is often not the shortest plan.
Finish where you end
Plan to end on the last carrot. A route that crosses the meadow twice wastes hops.

Why play Bunny Hop Path?

Path planning means thinking several moves ahead and comparing routes before you commit, a skill used in delivery rounds, travel plans, games and code. Fixed hop lengths make the meadow a small puzzle where the obvious move is often wrong, so you practise looking ahead instead of reacting.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bunny Hop Path free?

Yes. It is free and runs in your browser, with no download. Signing up is optional.

How is the best number of hops worked out?

The game checks every possible combination of squares and carrots collected, closest first, so the number shown is the true minimum for that meadow.

Is it the same as Sleigh Route?

No. In Sleigh Route you choose the order of houses and the sleigh flies one square at a time. Here the bunny's hops have fixed lengths, so you plan every landing square too.

Can I play with a keyboard or a screen reader?

Yes. Every square the bunny can reach is a button, named with its direction, length and what's there. Tab to one and press Enter to hop.
