• Myths love a scary twist. If a claim sounds made to frighten you, like poisoned candy everywhere, it's often a trick.
• Animals are rarely villains. Bats, spiders and black cats are mostly harmless, and very useful.
• Check the numbers. Owls turn their heads about 270 degrees, not 360. Small details turn a fact into a myth.
